Gold Separation Method--3.1 Ion Exchange Resin

Gold Separation Method--3.1 Ion Exchange Resin

1) ion exchange resin method
The ion exchange resin method is using ion exchange resin to adsorb gold from cyanide pulp, which can be RIP and RIL gold extraction. RIP is called resin slurry method that leaching first and then adsorption, which was used for many years in the former Soviet Union, and the Jolden Jubilee Gold Mine in South Africa still use it. While RIL is leaching over adsorption, it was said there is no examples of this industrial applications. Some people treat both RIP and RIL as the resin slurry method.

The principle of ion exchange resin method: ion exchange resin in solution can separate two ionizable groups: the fixed ion (R) that can not ion exchange and exchangeable ions that have opposite electrical property with the fixed ion. According to exchangeable ions positive or negative electric charge, the ion exchange resin can be divided into cation exchange resin and anion exchange resin. Gold in the form of anionic complexes of Au (CN) in cyanide pulp, so it must adopt anion exchange resin method for extracting gold. And the ion exchange reaction is: R-OH + Au (CN) 2 - ═ R-Au (CN) 2 + OH-
